Dates of the SET-2026 Examination have been modified. The Vice-Chancellor of Kota University, Prof. B.P. Saraswat informed about the new date of the examination, which will be conducted on September 13, 2026, rather than September 6, to prevent any conflict with the CTET examination.
On the directives of the Higher Education Department of Rajasthan Government, Kota University has been assigned the duty to conduct Rajasthan State Eligibility Test (SET-2026) this year.
Two more subjects included
Two more subjects will appear in the Rajasthan State Eligibility Test (SET-2026) for the first time – Journalism and Mass Communication, and Sanskrit (Traditional). By adding these two subjects, Kota University will henceforth be conducting the SET-2026 examinations through a total of 37 subjects.
As per Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.P. Saraswat, this decision has been taken in line with UGC-NET subjects. He further informed that the university has received numerous requests and representations from candidates and other stakeholders regarding the inclusion of Journalism & Mass Communication and Sanskrit (Traditional).
In view of the interest of students, these subjects have been included in the SET-2026 examinations in order to provide the opportunity to the candidates in different disciplines across Rajasthan to take the eligibility tests.
Application fee and procedure of registration
The application process for SET-2026 examinations will continue to be online without any change. Candidates interested in applying can fill their application forms through the official website of Kota University and through SSO portal.
For the general category and OBC creamy layer, the fee has been fixed at ₹1500; for OBC non-creamy layer and Economically Weaker Section (EWS), it is ₹1,200 while ₹750 for SC, ST and Divyang candidates.
Pattern of Examination
The examination paper SET-2026 is to be held in offline mode using an OMR sheet-based examination methodology as per the latest UGC-NET instructions. It shall comprise two papers containing 150 questions altogether.
Paper-I will comprise 50 questions on topics like teaching & research aptitude, analytical reasoning and general intellectual ability. Paper-II will contain 100 questions on the subject opted by the candidate.
The combined test shall be of 300 marks and will take 3 hours to complete. There will be no negative marking and two marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
