What is the AP EAMCET Normalisation Process?
APSCHE uses a uniform normalising formula to remove differences between sessions. This procedure maps candidates onto a worldwide comparative scale by adjusting marks based on session averages and standard deviations. A dual-weighting approach is used for final merit rankings –
- 75% of the weight comes from normalised AP EAPCET scores.
- 25% of the weight in core group subjects comes from intermediate grades.
The guidelines make the policy of negative marks clear. Any subject score that becomes negative after normalisation will be recognised as zero for applicants who passed the exam; nevertheless, the total cumulative marks will not change.
A net negative score across all subjects defaults to zero for initial ranking for applicants from SC/ST categories without minimum qualifying marks; however, the negative fractional value is maintained to break ties. The following process will be used to settle any ties that remain in the final combined score –
- Total points earned in the 2026 AP EAPCET
- Marks obtained in Physics and Mathematics
- Older applicants will be given preference during admissions based on their date of birth if the tie still exists following these stages.
