NTA has confirmed that the re-NEET UG 2026 expected result time on 20 July. Although an exact date has not been announced, a senior NTA official stated that the evaluation process is being carried out on a war footing to ensure the results are released as soon as possible, as reported by ANI.
The official also assured students that the delay due to the re-examination will not impact the commencement of the MBBS academic session. The re-NEET 2026 result date is being closely awaited by lakhs of aspirants who appeared in the exam conducted on 21 June after the earlier 03 May exam was cancelled due to alleged paper leak concerns.
According to the official statement, we would not like to give out any date as of now but the result will be out by 20 July. Normally results are announced within 45 days of the examination but this time we are aiming to release them earlier, he said.
The provisional answer key was released on 25 June and students were allowed to raise objections until 28 June. Around 10000 challenges were received, which are currently under review before finalising the answer key and preparing the re-NEET UG 2026 result expected date and updates.
We need to review all the challenges one by one, verify the supporting documents and respond to each objection accordingly, the official further stated.
NTA also clarified that even though the re-examination has been conducted, the MBBS academic session will begin as per the scheduled timeline. However, the counselling schedule has not yet been released.
Once the NEET UG result 2026 is declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the counselling timetable for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), AIIMS, JIPMER, central universities and deemed universities. Meanwhile, state counselling authorities will separately conduct admissions for the remaining 85% state quota seats.
During the counselling process, candidates must register online, pay the required fee and fill in their preferred colleges and courses. Seat allotment will be based on NEET rank, category, reservation policies, choices filled and seat availability. Applicants allotted a seat will need to report to their respective colleges for document verification and admission.
The counselling is typically conducted in multiple rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round before the final admission process for the new academic session is completed.
Meanwhile, several states including Tamil Nadu have already initiated preliminary admission preparations while awaiting the re-NEET UG 2026 result and counselling schedule updates.
