Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has initiated the admissions procedure for Navodaya 2027. This will facilitate students aspiring for admission to Class 6 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in the academic year 2027-28. Along with the online application form, NVS has also announced the official JNVST 2027 notification and prospectus.
Eligible candidates are invited to fill out the online JNVST Class 6 application form before 31 July 2026. The official calendar suggests that the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test 2027 will be held on 28 November 2026 and the results will be declared towards the end of March 2027.
The exam will be held sooner than that in the previous two admission cycles. JNVST was held in December 2025 and April 2024.

JNVST Class 6 Eligibility Criteria 2027
Students seeking admission to Navodaya Admission 2027 should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria required by NVS. The students should be –
- Currently studying in Class 5 in the academic year of 2026-27 in any recognised school.
- A genuine resident of the district in which the candidate seeks admission.
- Having studied classes 3, 4 and 5 from any recognised school.
- Born between 1 May 2015 and 31 July 2017 (both dates inclusive).
- Applicants should attempt JNVST once; attempting the test more than once is not allowed.
- The candidate who has already completed or repeated class 5 is not eligible to apply for the same.
New District-Specific Rule for Navodaya Admission 2027
According to the recent prospectus, admission is going to be district-wise only.
A candidate is only allowed to apply to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in his/her own district of residence. But if a student lives in a neighbouring district, the school should be within a 10 km radius from the residence of the candidate. This will be checked by NVS before admission.
It has been made clear by the Samiti that applications received for the wrong district will not be entertained even after selection.
